All-Star Sports Training's First Clinic of the New Year
January 9-11, 2009
The January 9 - 11 Quarterback Clinic marked the first clinic of the New Year for All-Star Sports Training. High School QB's from all over Central Florida arrived Friday evening for a weekend of technique training to help them improve their game. For their first night they got things off on the right foot by running some timed combine drills. After a good nights rest the QB's were ready to start the lessons. Steve DeBerg, Steve Pisarkewicz and Pat O'Hara led the boys in drills that focused on correct technique, from body and arm position while throwing, to footwork. Each Quarterback had his drills captured on video for frame by frame analysis with our Dartfish Analyzer Software. Saturday and Sunday consisted of the boys and coaches hitting the field for practice followed by indoor analysis sessions. After seeing the techniques they needed to improve, the boys were able to hit the field for another round of drills and even more tape, all of which allowed them to make huge improvements to the little things that make them more accurate, powerful and efficient.

All in all this weekend was a huge success! A big thank you to the coaches and staff for making it happen and run so smoothly.

November 2008

DeLand Youth Football League - Pop Warner Coaching Curriculum Committee Chairman

USA Football, the sport's national governing body on youth and amateur levels, has named STEVE DeLUCA of Paisley, Fla., to its Administrators Advisory Committee. DeLuca, chairman of the coaching curriculum committee for the DeLand Youth Football League - Pop Warner, is one of nine administrator committee members contributing toward USA Football's educational resources, employed by USA Football members in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.

USA Football selected DeLuca for his long-standing and dedicated involvement to Florida youth football. The DeLand league encompasses more than 200 youngsters with 30 coaches among its eight teams.

USA Football's Administrators Advisory Committee evaluates and strengthens USA Football resources made available to youth football league administrators. Such resources include online education courses, financial support for league volunteer background checks, coaching insurance and football equipment grants.

"You can't have uneven youth experiences and hope the game continues to grow," DeLuca said. "The best way to protect the game is to educate the coaches and administrators in order to provide the kids a fair, successful experience."

"Steve's work on our Administrators Advisory Committee will impact leagues that teach this game and its values to thousands of youngsters nationwide," said USA Football Executive Director SCOTT HALLENBECK. "The success that youth football has experienced in DeLand for more than two decades is attributable to Steve and dedicated volunteers like him. We're proud to have him on our team."

November 2008

Joe CohenJoe Cohen has been signed to the Miami Dolphins Practice Squad! Strong as a beast big Joe put up 225 38 times!! Joe was with the 49er's before being cut. He was working out at a local gym to get back in shape, but in order to take it up a notch he came to All Star "I got up and moved to Paisley to train at the All Star Sports Training Facility. When I got there . . . I started getting my confidence back. I saw the way I was moving. I knew eventually I would get picked up somewhere and get a chance to show everyone that I can play ball." Defensive Tackle Jason Ferguson commented on Joe, "You know if a guy's got it, and he's got it. I think he's real hungry. When you've got a guy that's hungry, willing to run through a wall for anything right now, that's the best thing you can do. He knows what to do now. Once you get your foot in, do not put no foot backwards. Keep stepping forward." We know you've got it Joe! Joe says, "I'm feeling great now, I really feel like the sky's the limit. This is a stepping stone. I'm learning from people like Jay Ferg, I'm back with Crowder and I've got all these great guys around. It's just time to play ball now, and every day get better."

We look forward to seeing big Joe here to train in the off season.
